COMMITTED TO SUSTAINABLE TOURISM
Sustainable tourism is in our blood! Our specialty: small groups adventure trips focused on respectful practice of outdoor activities.
Since we began more than 20 years ago respect, trust and transparency are values that lead our relationships with our partner agencies, our suppliers and our employees.
Commitment to quality and attention to details are at the heart of our offering to our travellers. We continuously improve our practices and processes in order to move towards more sustainable tourism.
Toundrigo (and its brands : Windigo Adventure, Receptour, Toundra Voyages and Think Incentive) has integrated sustainability principles into its operations and officially became a Travelife partner in 2024. What’s next ? Travelife certification by 2025 !
TRIP DEVELOPMENT
We advise our clients to seek a balance between must-see destinations and the road less travelled.
We only work with wildlife observation partners who have solid certifications, provide a high-quality experience and have the best reputation for their treatment of animals.
We prioritize working with local businesses, thus ensuring direct economic benefits for the communities visited on tour.
In 2020-2021 we will set up a purchasing policy to favour our most environmentally friendly partners and thereby influence others to improve their business practices.
OPERATIONS
Aventure Ecotourisme
We are accredited by Aventure Écotourisme Québec which is a professional association that certifies that we adhere to the highest safety and quality standards in the tourism industry.
Interpretive Guides Association
We only work with guides who have the permits and certifications required, to properly educate about, interpret and help protect the flora, fauna and the cultural heritage of the different regions we travel to.
Leave No Trace
We train our guides to follow and promote the «Leave no trace» principles and we will display the list in the clients’ view in the vehicles.
Conditions
We offer fair working conditions for all guides in compliance with Canadian standards thanks to our salary grid and our employment contracts.
Meals
We encourage our guides to make more ecofriendly choices for cooked meals: plan the quantities well to avoid waste, prepare vegetarian meals, use local, organic and bulk products when available, etc.
Recycling
We encourage guides to recycle during trips that include preparing meals and only use reusable dishware. No disposable plastic !
DID YOU KNOW ?
At the end of each season, we donate to food banks unopened, non-perishable food leftover from our tours. We also donate used tents and sleeping bags which are still in good condition to charitable organizations.
“GIVING IS CARING”
IN THE OFFICE
In 2019 we set up a green committee that manages and implements new projects in the interest of continuous improvement.
We’ve partnered with the city of montréal as part of the 2016-2020 sustainable Montreal plan.
We drastically reduced printing and paper use (-50% in 2019 vs. 2018) and have used 100% recycled paper since 2019.
We have been offsetting the co2 emissions from employees’ business trips by planting trees with carbone boréal, a Quebec
organization affiliated with the research chair in climate change.
We sort and seek to minimize waste at the office, i.e. recycling and composting depending on what the municipality offers.
We donate outdated computer equipment to Insertech, a recovery organization who specializes in social reintegration.
We keep sustainability fresh in our minds through our newsletter and some workshops.
We set up an eco-responsible charter by which need to abide all our corporate events (aperitifs at the office, Christmas party, etc.).
We commit to recurring voluntary involvement with different charitable organizations like Moisson Montreal and others.
