Highlights

  • Spectacular geological landscapes: From the lava fields of Craters of the Moon to the colorful geysers of Yellowstone, this journey immerses you in the natural forces of the Northwest.
  • Iconic wildlife: Bison, elk, bears and birds of prey can be observed in protected areas such as Lamar Valley, Grand Teton and Antelope Island.
  • Must-see national parks: Yellowstone and Grand Teton offer a complete immersion among canyons, hot springs, rugged mountains and glacial valleys.
  • Day 1 – Salt Lake City

Nestled between the Wasatch Range and the shores of the Great Salt Lake, Salt Lake City blends historic architecture, wide avenues and lively cultural districts. Founded in 1847 by Mormon pioneers, the city still bears the imprint of these early settlers. Temple Square, museums, cafés and craft breweries give it a dynamic vibe, while surrounding peaks remind visitors of the nearby vast landscapes.

  • Day 2 – Antelope Island

First encounter with the Great Salt Lake at Antelope Island, a vast wilderness where free-roaming bison and desert wildlife inhabit a stark, mineral landscape. Established in 1893, the bison herd is one of the oldest and best-protected in the country, symbolizing conservation in the American West.

  • Day 3 – Shoshone Falls

Explore Shoshone Falls, often called the “Niagara of the West.” Steep cliffs, water-carved cavities and dramatic rock formations reveal the geological forces that shaped this site. Historically, the Shoshone people fished salmon here, making the falls a vital and sacred place.

  • Day 4 – Craters of the Moon

Cross the lunar-like terrain of Craters of the Moon National Monument: vast lava fields dotted with volcanic cones and natural tunnels. Some lava flows are less than 2,000 years old, highlighting the region’s young and still-active geology. Short trails allow visitors to learn about the area’s volcanic activity.

  • Day 5 – Yellowstone: Canyon & Geysers

Full day in Yellowstone. Discover the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone with its spectacular waterfalls and iron-rich yellow cliffs that inspired the park’s name. Then explore Norris Geyser Basin, one of the park’s most active areas, with steam vents and colorful pools revealing the power beneath the surface.

  • Day 6 – Yellowstone: Lamar Valley

Early departure to maximize wildlife sightings in Lamar Valley, known as the “Serengeti of America” for its vast prairies and dense wildlife populations. Bison, elk, bears and birds of prey roam this isolated valley where nature reigns supreme.

  • Day 7 – Yellowstone: Old Faithful & Grand Prismatic

On the way to Jackson, stop at the park’s most iconic sites: Old Faithful, the world’s most reliable geyser, and Grand Prismatic Spring, famous for its vibrant colors visible from above.

  • Day 8 – Grand Teton National Park

Enter Grand Teton National Park, dominated by a spectacular mountain range. The peaks of the Teton Range, among North America’s youngest, rose abruptly around 9 million years ago, creating sharp silhouettes over the valley. Search for wildlife and admire striking panoramas where lakes, forests and peaks form a majestic backdrop.

  • Day 9 – Jackson

Spend the day in Jackson, a cultural hub of Wyoming. In the town square, iconic arches made of naturally shed elk antlers reflect the region’s wildlife heritage. Art galleries, renowned restaurants and modern western charm make it a lively destination appreciated by artists and nature lovers alike.

  • Day 10 – End of the trip
